ENGLISH GRAMMAR FOR HIGH SCHOOL CLASSES - THEY
In English there are no singular gender-neutral personal pronouns other than "he" and "she". When we want to refer to a singular gender-neutral personal noun, if we use "he", it will create a gender discrimination issue. Nowadays using the male pronoun "he" to refer to a gender-neutral noun is considered to be male domination and making the female gender unimportant or inferior.
